Pha Daeng National Park
Pha Daeng National Park, located in Chiang Dao district, is remarkable for both its geological features and rich ecosystems. The park is home to diverse forest types, including dry evergreen forest, montane evergreen forest, pine forest, mixed deciduous forest, and deciduous dipterocarp forest. Since it connects to the Doi Luang Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary, the area is teeming with wildlife such as gorals, barking deer, bantengs, and gaurs. It is also a haven for butterflies, insects, resident birds, and migratory species.
Highlights of the Park
Sri Sangwan Waterfall: A spectacular limestone waterfall and the origin of the Ping River, making it one of the most beautiful natural attractions in the park.
Pong Ang Hot Spring: A natural hot spring with water temperatures ranging from 70–80 °C, located about 3 km south of the park headquarters. The area has been developed into natural mineral baths, perfect for relaxation.
Doi Kham Fa: Rising 1,834 meters above sea level, this mountain is one of the best spots to admire the sea of mist in Chiang Mai. From the summit, visitors can also enjoy stunning views of the nearby Doi Luang Chiang Dao.
