Sri Sangwan Waterfall – A Royal-Named Limestone Cascade in Chiang Dao
Sri Sangwan Waterfall is a beautiful natural attraction in Chiang Dao, Chiang Mai province. The waterfall was graciously named by Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother (Somdet Ya) during her visit, when she once enjoyed lunch near this serene spot.
About the Waterfall
Sri Sangwan is a medium-sized limestone waterfall, approximately 10–15 meters wide and 10–20 meters high, cascading over three tiers. The water flows from Khun Nam Nah Wai, creating a refreshing and scenic stream that runs throughout the year.
The surrounding area is home to large trees and mixed forest. At the upper stream, parts of the forest have been cleared, leaving open woodland with clusters of bamboo. However, the lower section of the waterfall still retains its rich natural beauty, making it an excellent spot for relaxation and photography.
Nature Trail
Visitors can also enjoy a 2-kilometer nature trail around the waterfall. The trail passes through a mixed deciduous forest and dry dipterocarp forest, where you can spot trees such as Shorea obtusa (Hiang), as well as wild orchids and other native plants.
